William Docker Browning

William Docker Browning (May 19, 1931 – February 26, 2008) was a United States federal judge.

Born in Tucson, Arizona, Browning received a B.S./B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1954 and an LL.B. from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1960. He was a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant from 1954 to 1957. He was in private practice in Tucson, Arizona from 1960 to 1984.

Browning was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Browning was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on April 4, 1984, to a seat vacated by Mary Anne Richey. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 24, 1984, and received his commission on May 3, 1984. He served as chief judge from 1990-1994. He assumed senior status on May 14, 1998. Browning served in that capacity until February 26, 2008, due to his death.
